Summer is coming and the hobby season is changing — but it doesn't mean a break! Oulu offers dozens of summer camps, sports courses and holiday clubs for children. This article collects the most important summer activities and registration deadlines so you don't miss out.

Kesäfiilis — City of Oulu summer camps
The City of Oulu Sports Services organises popular Kesäfiilis camps at Raatti Sports Centre every summer. The camps run for a week (Mon–Fri 9:00–15:00) and include a variety of sports, games, excursions and social activities.

Football school and clubs
Football is Finland's most popular children's hobby, and there's plenty on offer during summer.
Tervarit Juniorit — Free Football School (May)
Tervarit Juniorit organise a free Football School for 4–6-year-olds every May. This is a great way to try football before autumn registrations open. Exact dates are published on the Tervarit Juniorit website during spring.
AC Oulu Juniorit
AC Oulu's Football School continues through summer. Autumn registration usually opens in May — follow acoulu.fi and PikkuHarrastus.
OLS Football
OLS organises football clubs in the Heinäpää area. Registration is via the myClub app.

Athletics — HIPPO athletics schools
Oulun Pyrintö's HIPPO athletics schools run from June to August in ten different areas around Oulu. Nine training sessions covering running, jumping and throwing through play. HIPPO is aimed at 5–8-year-olds and is an excellent way to discover athletics in summer.
Registration opens in spring on the Oulun Pyrintö website.

Swimming schools in summer
Summer is the best time to learn to swim! The City of Oulu swimming schools and Kesäfiilis swimming courses are held at Raatti pool and outdoor pools. Oulun Uinti and Oulun Lohet also offer summer courses.

Horse riding camps and pony clubs
Horse riding is one of PikkuHarrastus's most popular activities! In summer, camps and taster sessions are especially available.

Dance, circus and art
Many dance schools and art societies run summer courses and camps outside the normal school year:
- Balettikoulu Sinikello — fairy-tale ballet and beginners' ballet, dance is the second most searched category on PikkuHarrastus
